ZITA TAN
Solution
This project presented a significant challenge. ZITA TAN's collection primarily relies on intricate draping techniques to shape the garments, which rendered conventional methods of digitizing flat patterns into three-dimensional forms ineffective.
To accurately replicate each piece in 3D software, I conducted an on-site visit to her studio, capturing comprehensive images from multiple angles to thoroughly understand the structure and details. To achieve a highly realistic result, I meticulously refined the models by iterating through various software, applying the photographed textures to the 3D models. The final outcome not only met expectations but also enhanced my expertise in complex garment modeling.
The 8th Continent
Story I
In reality, the 8th continent is a giant rubbish dump floating in the Pacific Ocean.
In this project, it is reimagined as an artificial utopia of the "water bears", in which the ubiquitous plastic waste serves as their food, while evolving them into new species.
Story II
History tends to repeat itself. Humanity discovered and invaded the paradise where a pure species lived and thrived. This pristine species was quickly tamed and turned into tools for human use. It wasn't long before humanity, driven by its innate greed and intelligence, conquered this paradise, becoming the rulers of this world and the gods who dominate other species.
